Fellowship Groups
Praise be to God.
At Monroe Street United Methodist Church, our prayer and study groups provide opportunities to pursue deep intimacy and quiet communing with Christ as well as fellowship with other believers.
Prayer Groups
Men’s Prayer Breakfast takes place on the first and third Thursdays of the month at 7:30 a.m. A devotional discussion is held over breakfast at Sam & Charlie’s.
The Email Prayer Chain shares prayer requests from members and friends. You can request prayers or ask to join the group by clicking here.
Sacred Stories is a small prayer group that meets weekly. We practice Lectio Divina (Latin for “Divine Reading”), an ancient prayer pattern that invites us to listen as God speaks to us through a text of Scripture. A time of sharing follows, during which we relate stories about our faith and connect them with God’s Story. We conclude the hour with prayer and affirmations as we see and celebrate the Christ we meet in one another.
Study Groups
The Beacon and Bridge Bible Study is an interesting and fun mix of church members, neighbors, and friends. We meet every Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. to study together and share.
Thursday Evening Book Study and Dinner meets on the first and third Thursdays each month from 6:00-8:00 PM for a rousing discussion over a potluck dinner. We generally work through a chapter of a chosen book each week, openly sharing our opinions, our questions, and our life experiences.
Sunday Morning Book Study (“Sunday School”) meets 9:00-10:00 for an in-depth discussion of books by some of the most important authors, past and present.
Fellowship Groups
The Lunch Bunchers group meets for lunch on the third Saturday of each month at various area restaurants. Check the weekly email newsletter for information about meeting locations and who to call.
